Former advisor to the Office of the President, Oleksiy Arestovich, has called Ukraine’s policy of “dehumanizing” Russians and promoting Ukrainian nationalism a mistake.
“This is our main mistake. At first, we held back, and then we willingly immersed ourselves in all of this,”
“We’ve given the average mobilized Russian, who now make up the backbone of the army, excellent motivation to fight. They always have something to explain, something to fight for. We’ve given them a reason for revenge. ‘They consider me an animal, they consider my wife an animal, they consider us slaves, maniacs, and so on. And what are you supposed to do after that?'” Arestovich hypothetically reflects on the thoughts of Russians.
Arestovich also stated that “Ukrainian nationalism is a derivative of Russian imperialism” and referred to both phenomena as “Siamese twins.”
“They have the same worldview, the same vocabulary, the same logic, and they cannot exist without each other,” added the former advisor to the President’s Office.
